Exploring Sectors
Sector States
Every sector in the star system has a progression state:
| State | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Unrevealed | Hidden. You can’t see or interact with this sector yet. |
| Discoverable | Visible on the map. You can now explore it. |
| Discovered | You’ve placed a pylon here. Missions become available. |
| Safe | Fully explored. All missions and resources are accessible. |
| Complete | Fully depleted (for deposits) or all facilities built (for planets). |
How Discovery Works
Exploration radiates outward in waves:
- You start with New Prime and a handful of nearby sectors already marked Safe
- Any sector adjacent to a Safe or Complete sector becomes Discoverable
- Explore a discoverable sector to advance it to Discovered, then Safe
- As you push further out, more of the map opens up
This means exploration is a community effort — as players collectively complete sectors, new regions of the star system open for everyone.
Residuum Deposits
Most sectors contain Residuum deposits worth 5,000 Residuum each. Mining these deposits is a key source of Residuum, the system’s primary resource currency. Once fully mined, the sector is marked Complete.
